Memori Tercipta :Exco Holiday Camp-A Famosa Resort, Malacca!

December 28th, 2008 by shreenath

Yo peeps!  :)
(3.00 am - 29th December 2008)

Shree signing for the last time in Year 2008! Another great year, great exco, fantastic successes, nostalgic memories! Red Crescent rocks!!! MEB08 rocks!

Phew!!! What a truly great & challenging year it has been! With a hyperactive , non stop action schedule, back to back events (Kem Belia ke-31 & RC Nite 2008) and the holiday season, we decided to cap off our fantastic, bombastic year with a well deserved holiday!!!!

Initilly, we planned for a Island or maybe beach retreat. What with the monsoon season in the east coast and schoo holiday crowd in most popular tourist destinantions, damn….we were stuck with nowehre to go!!!!

For the amount of effort, sacrifice and hardwork put in, and for the financial strength of MEB2008, we really deserved the best type of holiday possible. Nothing less. Apa lagi…..web research! Ibarat mencari jarum dalam kandang lembu, we looked and we looked and we looked and VOILA!!!!! We got it!!! A Famosa REsort, Melaka!!!!! The journey begins!

Putting our organising skills and machinery to full use, we started getting things organised. Online bookings, full payment & mapping out a strategy for the best type of holiday possible on a limited budget! Suey ERz feels sstrongly about doing it backpacking style!

We wanted to go by Transit, but by god’s grace, it was already pre-booked thus forcing us to rely on our ad hoc backpacking skills! (Thank GOD for that…as I found out later on, the front 2 tyres of the Tranist burst while in use by the other team!!!!)

14 of us in total - “Sir”, Mahesu,Crazy suey erz, Cheila Cee Arumugam,Mafia Mouse,Jojo Kiri,Gentleman PAng(doraemon),Emo Elaina,Lazer Atul,Gloria Sor Wen,Baby Kuma Kuma Pei,Haha Ijan,Playboy Mani & Mental Syabil! Melaka be careful…here we come!!!!

As usual, a bunch of us did our normal weekly home stay program in Bilik Belia -HQ! Celebrated Christmas together-gether and then movie time in HQ. We had a cute beautiful Christmas Tree and everyone’s presents & cards are stacked at the bottom of the tree…Looking really grand!!!!

ON the 26th morning, we wake up early, and everyone starts coming in!!! Sheila’ is kind enuff to ta pau breakfast for us: nasi lemak & mee goreng! I give them a short briefing and set the ground rules for our holiday! The best type of holiday is a one that is well planned! hahaha!  We start walking to the bus station! Its a cool morning..no morning sun yet as it has just stopped raining! Our bus is at 9.30 am! Everyone is wearing our Kem Belia Organiser T-shirt..gempak gitu!!

We get onto the SE Express and head to Melaka, BAndar Bersejarah! Wooo Hoooo! All exco’s are gosipping kao-kao but soon enough one by one start to drop off to sleep like durian runtuh! Its a 3 hour journey!!!

When we reach Melaka Sentral, we get down and head towards the famous Nasi Ayam Bebola!!! Nyonya style!!! Hmmm..not bad at all! We book our tickets back to Klang and proceed to find our way to A Famosa Resort! After some investigation, we get into 4 taxi’s(RM60 bucks per car worrr!!!) and get moving!

Wa Lau Weh!!!! A Famosa Resort is simply huge!!! Strectched over acres and acres of land & jungle, they have built a small holiday city within the four walls of A Famosa Resort! Impressive. We find our way to our accomodation-Villa D something!!! And we discover the use of the Banana Truck!!!! This will be our major source of transportation for our stay in AFR! Cool man!

After a quick check in, the Banana Truck sends us right to the doorstep of our Villa BUngalow!!! Beauoooootifooool!!!!Comes with an attached swiiming pool! We are sort of in a neighbourhood where each and every villa has its own swiiming pool and serene landscape!

The villa itself, is huge, well decorated, spacious, air conditioned with 3 TV’s!!!!

My exco’s do a full inspection on the villa facilities, jump on the beds to test the springs and we all jump into the swimming pool! Aiyoyoooo ammaaaaa…just imagine 14 crazy, energetic and hyperactive kids all going wild and set loose!!!!

Many things happened in this swimming pool which i am not at liberty to write about! We are sworn to secrecy as the truth & dare games as well as certain X activities have to remain TOP SECRET!!! Hahaha…

After a quick shower, we change, buzz the Banana Truck and head on to Cowboy Town! Woooh! Whatta a night! Parrots, Cowboys, Chimpanzees, Tigers, Red Indians, Python, bungee Jumping, Bull Fighting….you name it…we did it! We managed to catch a 4D movie screening- some ghost movie thingy where the you have to wear the special 3D glasses and your seats move up & down and they suddenly squirt water at you!!!!!

Then we move on to checkout the Street Animal Parade & Fireworks Display. Being the noisiest people around, we soon attract the attention of the MC, DJ & cowboys! Soon enuff you see our exco’s dancing and doing the cowboy dance in the street parade! Hahaha….The fireworks display was beautiful and really awesome!

We proceed to have dinner,at the world most expensive restaurant with the sappiest food!!!!!RM12 bucks for a Cantonese Fried Kueyteow that has no taste!!! Kahkahaka….makan sajelah! We head back home, and its rest & recreation, sesi hato ke hati, hamburger session & we watch the Kem Belia video together! Damn funny! Then sleeping time!

Next day morning, exco girls are early risers! We have a breakfast buffet waiting for us at the Lake View Restaurant! All the boys ( i heard something about jogging n stuff) finally woke up and got ready! Hahaha…We banana truck ourselves to the Safari World & Water World area for breakfast! Belasah the food kao-kao!!!!

We then proceed to exchange our vouchers to tickets and proceed to the Safari World! We are instant hits and VIP’s coz they (the handlers) remember us from the Cowboy Town!!!! The elephants give us a warm welcome and even carries some of the exco’s! After taking lots of pictures all over the place, we proceed to take the Safari into true wildlife area-lions, tigers, camels, hyena’s, giraffes, bears, crocodile,etc….interesting…..

We the proceed to join the elephant show! Whaddya know, they need volunteers and Syabil, Mani & SueyErz (very majmuk arr) join the elephants for the show. The Elephants carry Mani & Syabil on the trunks! For SueyErz, the elephants create sort of a seat and SueyErz is the Jumbo Quuen as she sits in between abd carried around by the elephants! The MC request for another volunteer, and I’m just sounding my exco’s telling them to give the orang ramai a chance…when the elephant handler points at ME!!! Alamak!!!!! The exco’s got wild….and I am asked to lie down on the floor for a Elephant MAssage!!! Of all the places the elephant has to step, it chooses to step me in “XXX” areas! Hahahaha! Cool man!

We then proceed to take a Ferry to Monkey Island to watch some monkeys up close and personal!!! Kiri is excited as he gets to visit his cousins the monkeys!!! hahahah…

After that, we proceed to go and catch the NAimal Show! An interesting range of animals on show with many tricks up their sleeves. This is where we get to see Jojo the monkey and realise that Kiri is so very much like Jojo! So, we codename Kiri =Jojo!!!! History is made! A short trip to the CHicken Farm and we are out of the Safari Park!

Now for fun time!!! It’s time to get wet!!!!! We enter the Water World! First we sewa the double tubes to be used on some of the rides. We first approach the tube rides…..and have turns playing the different rides. We go in pairs, then buddy pairs, then open pairs….you name it!!! My first 2 tries we are thrown off the tubes somewhere in the middle and have to virtually commando crawl out of the rides!!!!! I make it successfully on the 3rd ride with Syabil!!! haha…

We next approach the high rides! This is really really high, steep and scary! Its like a virtual 75% degree drop down!!! But knowing my exco’s, nothing is gonna stop them!!!! and they aint gonna let me to escape this…so we have a few rounds here!!!!

We then move on to a tubeless ride!!!! Ahhhhh…this is where we really have the best type of fun!!! We invent a few “new” moves…..like the 14 person train twister!!! hahaha..all 14 exco’s jump into the ride one after another, while the 1st 2 exco’s tekan the brake …and when all 14 of us are stuck together, we slide down and full speed into the pool!!!!!! Adrenalin rush!!!! and we did it at least 4 times!!!!!!!!

Phew…after a high rush of adrenalin activities, now its time to cool down….chill..relax..we move on to the Wave Pool, LAzy River & Waterfalls. Bermandi manda sambil bergossip!!!

After spending hours in Water World, everyone is hungry, so we stop to grab some burgers and ta pau some hot dogs for later on. We head back to our villa in the Banana Truck!

Everyone takes a bath, and we sit around chit cahtting while eating tid bits & marsh mellows and some are watching tv while some are sleeping (in deep thought/hibernation).

At about 8.00 pm, we take a short stroll around our neighbourhood to the Villa Cafe! We stop over for dinner! Then its back to the villa! SInce this exco is soooo synonymous to Nite Guard, my exco’s actually have a midnight stroll to commemorate Nite Guard.Hahaha….

The next morning, we are up early again, coz we wanna check out early, head for Melaka Town and do some sight seeing! WE do a mini clean up (responsible backpackers), take lots of photo’s and then we proceed to checkout! Our taxi’s pick us up and take us right to Melaka Town>

We check out the River Cruise, Stadhuys, Clock Tower, Kota A Famosa and other sights around the area. We then head over to Jonkers Street for some souvenir shopping! A cendol break later, we take a bus (after some drama’s) back to Melaka Sentral and reach on the dot to take our Transnasional Bus back home!!!Phew!!!!

Home Sweet home!! Nothing like being in Klang,Bandar Di Raja!!!! The royalist are back!!!! Yay!!! We then proceed to have a quick makan at Emporium Makan (wan Tan Mee).

We cap off this sweet holiday, in true Christmas & Holiday  spirit! Its gift exchange time! All exco’s have prepared a gift & letter for one another! They start giving meaningful and sweet speeches!!!! Pang has done a touching presentation on MEb08!!! Really touching! My exco’s have started crying now…really touching moments!!!!

All in all, a truly fun, fantastic and memorable holiday together! This the way a holiday should be!!! We will chrish this memroy together forever!

Thanks a million for a great year 2008! Only truly special and talented leaders are capable of it! You are cles to my heart!

God bless.

My Best Friends Wedding! Alice-Clement : A Beautiful Wedding!

September 17th, 2008 by shreenath

Yo peeps! Shree signing in after a bloody long time!

Firstly, how does someone define a “best friend”? All of us have many many friends, buddies, close buddies, contacts, new friends, old timers…..so how does one induct someone into the The Hall Of Best Friends?

Well, for me…I guess its a gut feeling! After having shared many years of experiences, memories, sad & happy moments, challenges, hurdles, success and failures together, you just know! There are those special few who have become part and parcel of your lives! They mean something to you….

“Never allow a dispute to injure a great friendship!”

Ok..Ok..now lets get to the crux of the matter! :)

I had the great oppurtunity of attending, witnessing and being a part of Alice Poh Lee Yong’s Wedding! I am glad to say, she is one of my best friends and she has been my 43 buddy and we have shared many ups and downs together.

Just so that this goes down in history, the Wedding Reception was held on the 13th of September (the same night as the Mid AUtumn Festival - Tang Lung Festival) in PJ Hilton! There’s a beautiful catch phrase that caught my eye : WEDDING AT THE HILTON!

It was just so mindblowingly sweet, serene, beautiful. She looked so beautiful in her wedding gown. And Clement Low St Young….he is like her special custom made knight in shining armor! They just look so good together! I guess they are really made for each other!

And boy did they treat us like VVIP’s! In all their hectic schedules and preparation, they made sure their friends were well taken care of! Haha..just so that you know, we got a room in Hilton ! Thanks buddy! Really appreciate the care taken.

We do get to attend many wedding dinners and reception! A good makan, meet up will old friends, etc…but very seldom do you get a chance to be part of the wedding dinner itself unless of course you are family! And guess what, we are Alice’s family. So, my dearest friend Alice gave us an oppurtunity to be part of her wedding plans!Haha.

She entrusted the role of emcee to me! Whoa!!!I was scared shit man! As much as I smiled and geve her all the assuarances and seem very cool about it, I was scared shit! For me, it was the biggest honor to be the emcee! OMG…here ALice was handing over the emceeing of the biggest and most important event of her life to my ad hoc emceeing skills! Aiyoyooo….

My father once told me , an emcee can make or break an event!

Dun worry Alice…I put in every effort to make sure we pulled it off! Haha. But the speech from the best friend part, that was from my heart…..very ad hoc…but very sincere and true….dediacted to you!

For one, I notice that all our friends were very excited, bersemangat and put in their best efforts! And emcee partner would have rehearsed her script not less than 8 times!!! The mutimedia presentation was done, redone, edited, modified and tested! From the bridesmaid, to the flower girls, to the popper boys, everyone was just revelling in their roles and wanted to do their best to make sure Alice got the best ever wedding she deserved! We even elected our own floor manager & production manager and were best of friends with all the hptel staff to ensure everything went on smoothly!

At the end of it all, we just felt WOW! Happiness…..for ALice & Clement…for our friendship….for the value of this life……for good and bad….everything fell into place! Low Saint Young is the MAN!!!!

To Alice , (if you read this) :

1. You are one of my best friends (Thanks for being there in your own way!)

2. That was one helluva a beautiful wedding! I was impressed!

3. Thank you for taking care of us! YOu value our friendship.

4. I wish you a Happy Married Life! Great things happen to great people!

5. You are one special person! GOD bless you!

Shree….signing off!

Pssst: Nowadays, I just love driving by PJ Hilton. coz it comes with lots of sweet memories! My best friend got married there.

Pangkor Island - Unforgettable Memoir!

December 30th, 2007 by shreenath

Yo! Shree signing in….

Its the LAST day of the year 2007! And I’m in one of my blogging moods again…so much of emotions, feelings, happiness, sadness, memories…all running thru my mind…ha ha…better blog it coz I wanna make sure this memory last foreva!

Imagine this :

You are a DADDY! You got 15 great kids….A mix of everything…just 15 of best kids u cud ask for…kent-boy, jane tan-des,mei ler (sarah), manda, adibzzzz.zz,tew,shu-yi,faz,jee hong, Money chien (lcc), ah chong, woh sheng, praven, yoke jen & jushean…

AIte..now imagine…you’ve just had the best year of your lives…having successfully organised 2 major events back to back (Kem Belia Ke-30 & RC nite 2007) . Phew..thats a huge relief! You feel light (coz of the freedom) and you feel happy n satisfied…..you wanna celebrate…..its the christmas n holiday season….so whaddya do?!?!?!?

You have limited time(a week maybe)…you have limited resources…every holiday destination in Malaysia is fully booked…and you got 15 ppl (yup thats one huge family) to think about!!!!!!hmmmmmm……thats a tough call…..

But NO WORRIES! Leave it to your WONDERKIDS. They know just what to do……with a bit if cunning and pantas ikhtiar…BADABOOM…we are going BACKPACKING to PAngkor Island!Wooo Hoooo!

We’ve got a 3 room apartment in Pangkor. The rest as they say is HIStory! We just gotta leave it to GOD, good luck and intuition!

So this is what happened:::>>

We meet in HQ! (Bilik Belia - Room Of Dreams!)

We have our last EXCO meeting for the year 2007. Yup..the new Majlis Exco Belia 2008 has been selected! Thats TOP SECRET and another story altogether! Ha ha..

Then its time for our Christmas + New Year + BFF (best friends foreva!) gift exchange. FYI, we have got a beautiful white christmas tree with the deco and some superb lighting….so all kiddo’s have got gifts & cards for one another…thats alot and lot of gifts….simply marvelous. I’m elected the official Santa Claus Sir-man…so I get to give all of them all their gifts from under, on top, basically everywhere near and around the Xmas tree. Yup….an "emo" moment crops up….:D

But hey!We are on a tight schedule….we are backpacking remember….our travel schedule depends on our luck, timing and getting to places on time. So we move on…we walk to Klang Bus Station (in Klang) and take a express bus to Pasar Seni!

First stop - CENTRAL MARKET. Just a walk around lah.

Then we move on to PETALING STREET! Its packed! We weave our way thru the crowd, test some perfume (haha..had to lah) check out some stuff…..and we make a quick PIT STOP at 7-eleven!

Next STOP -MacD! Hmmmm…this MAcdonalds is a 4 floor MACd right in the heart of KL. Since our bus is only at 12.00 am at Pudu, we have some time to kill. Voila!!!!Ladies & gentlemen, its GHOST STORIES TIME!!!!!! ha ha..after scaring the shit out of ourselves…..time to move.

Puduraya at 11.30 pm is full with people going to every other corner of Malaysia! We locate our bus platform and hang around until its time to board the bus!

*Oh yaaaaa….I forgot to mention…my kids decided (in all their semangat berkobar-kobar) that they will wear the their Kem Belia Organiser T-shirts!!!!! SO, can u imagine - 14 kids backpacking thru the heart of KL…wearing the same Organiser T-shirts….we were instant celebrities!

We board the bus to Lumut at 11.59 (time as stated on da tickets). U know how it is when you are excited….Noone can sleep, so everyone is chatting and buat lawak bodoh! Amanda has lost her voice by now…but that hasn’t stopped her from screeching away! ha ha…. Pity all those ‘other’ penghuni bas!!! kah kah kah…

Yup..and our chief aeronautical engineer Praven decides to have a chit chat with the bus driver to keep him awake and avoid any accidents… I hear him asking about the capacity of the bus engine before I dose off to sleep….weird!

We reach Lumut town at about 4.00 am! Dang! The earliest ferry to Pangkor is at 7.00 am!3 hours to kill, nowhere to go……apa lagi…cari mamak lah! And WOW! Just across the bus station there is "25" jam mamak!

Me thinks the majmukness of our crowd catches the eye of the locals & foreigners! We keep ending up in other people’s camera’s & video cams and lots of people come up and ask us funny questions! Kent’s our press exec (PR) …so he answers all questions!

At 6.45 am, we move to the jetty and we get the 1st boat out to Pangkor. Our tour guide Jee Hong leads the way while Kent "layan" the jetty makcik! The ferry ride was kinda cool coz we get to see the SUN RISE! Hmmm..long time since that happened!

Good luck is with us! We hop off the ferry and we get into 2 "PINK" (ewwwww!) van taxi’s! We are going touring around Pangkor Island so early in da morning. We cover the dutch settlement, Kg.Melayu, Kg.Cina,a fish satay Factory, Mini Great Wall of China & a Tokong Cina by the seaside.

*Oh ya..special mention goes to me…coz I touched the batu hajat for couples of something like that ( at the great walls of China)! Hmmm…techically..I shud be getting married soon! ha ha ha..

Check in time to Coral Bay Resort Condo is at 3.30 pm! Its about 10.00 am when we reach Coral Bay! Once again, luck is on our side. We check in and our room is available!! Wooo Hooo…apa lagi? Masuklah….we test the beds, tv, kitchen…ha ha..everything is tested and all air cond is full blast!

We get into our bikini’s & swim trunks (yaaa rite!) ha ha ha..nolah…we get into our swimming shorts and leave for the beach. The beach is just 100m away….a brisk walk and we are there!

Just before we can actually jump in swim…an uncle approaches us with an irresitible offer….Island Hopping + Boat Ride + Swimming at a Private Beach…..(for an ‘undisclosed’ amount, of course)We check with our Finance Minister Cikamanda and she gives the go ahead!!!!

Apa lagi! Naik bot! Wind blowing up our faces & hair(for those with long hair and expensive shampoo’s..ha ha) and water spraying ….and whooops and shouts of joy from the kiddo’s….we first go on a boat tour around Pangkor island!Teluk beruk & Teluk Man & Panglor Laut & stuff…..and last but not least…he drops us off at the private beach…the boat uncle says he will be back in 1.5 hours!

After swimming, thousands of pics and my kiddo’s tanaming me and doing some obscene artwork on me………we get back into the boat for the ride back! We are taken to some snorkelling place….and we are given some bread to throw….apparently fishes are supposed to attack the bread…tapi kita kena tipu….ha ha ha..no fishes…maybe its after their lunch time kot!

Back at our own beach…we have a Banana Boat ride! By now, everyone is hungry and/or thirsty! Fisrt stop….coconut water-gud for your daughter! Then we have burger double ayam special !!!Hmm..just to make the burgers itself it took about 1 hour! ha!

Next we move on to the swimming pool! The pool is empty at this time…so all our national swimmers..turun the pool and starting playing some Olympic games that I have never heard or seen before….ha haha..

A visit to the sauna proves fruitless….so we go back to our condo for some rest & recreation!

In da night, we go out for SEAFOOD. 8 dishes in TOTAL. Hmmm..apparently all the kiddos are hungry…so all plates are wiped clean! A few burp sounds later….we walk to the beach. Its kind of a night walk thingy…angin bertiup sepoi-sepoi bahasa…..the clear skies are full of stars….and we start walking alomng the waves…some are singing songs, some are "thinking" and some are actually building a sand castle! Out of the blue, a black dog starts following us…..hmmm…interesting…it actually likes us….coz its barking at everyone else except us! Faz is scared shit! Ha ha ha!

Aite..we are now back at the condo! Some funny Chinese Movie is going on! Everyone’s chillin….Woh Sheng seems excited with everything! haha ha…all of a sudden, there is an increase of normal human activity around me……and then "suddenly" Jushean calls and everyone goes missing into 1 of the rooms…hmmmm..something fishy is going on here!

Trust my kiddo’s to come up with some ingenious n creative masterplan idea…well..they have another  surprise for me! They all come out of the room with 28 muffins (hmm..i wonder why 28???) with candles on them…and they start singing happy bday (again). ha ha ha…this is the 3rd bday celebration they have done for me…as Manda put it…be-earlieth bday, bday & belated bday celebration! They then go CRAZY!!!!! They start spraying confetti and snow and god knows what else !!!! Everyone is just so NUTS in da room! Cantek macam bunga!

*They gave me a special edition bday card penned down by them…its kind of a folio thingy that has all their thoughts and feeling inside. So touching! You can feel the "love" man! Fooooooh! Another emo moment there! How chweeeet! How do they think of this stuff???

They now start watching a Tamil movie that’s playing on TV plak! Ayoyooo….and they are gossiping away! Tido lah weiiiii….zzzz…z.z.z..z.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

We wake up early the next morning and get ready to pack up and leave. Gotta catch our bus back home 9which we have NOT bought tickets yet!!!!)

After a Maggi In A Cup breakfast, we have a inner circle session. Just needed to tell them what great kids they are and what a great exco team they have been. As we reminiscense, not bad at all….year 2007 has been a great, superb, fantastic & successful year!A pat on the back! A well deserved holiday!

Ooops….in my semangat and emo state, I take half an hour more than I am supposed to…..shit nigga! Rush..rush…checkout…grab 2 taxi’s and out we go! Phew…what luck buggers we are, we catch the ferry immediately!

In Lukut Town, we get the earliest bus tickets to KL. Plusliner 14 single seater..brand new bus! We grab some bites at KFC (poor Kent…he so wanted KFC..heard him sighing when the KFC advert in the cinema….) and then another PitStop at 7-eleven for some ice cream!

Before you know it, we are back in KL. We walk through Chow Kit…and I say…hey guys..lets have a short tea break. What I meant was, lets buy a drink or two and goreng pisang and move on(5 min thingy). What they did was to order ABC, goreng pisang, karipap, satay, rojak buah, nasi lemak, cendol pulut and air mata kucing! They  basically camped ands etlled down in the roadside! First time I actually sat down and enjoyed roadside hawker food! Ha ha ha…

45 minutes later, we are on a bus back to Klang! And you know what…they are soooooooooooooo happy and semangated….noone wants to go back!!!!!!! So, up comes the next plan….lets go n catch a movie…..

With some manipulation, bookings, phone calls….we get tickets for the 7.40 movie.. .Code NAmed: the Cleaner! As soon as we touchdown in Klang, we get into our cars and zoom to JJ! We are just in time for the movie…….missed a few advertisements though! Tau takper!

The day ends on a high note! The whole trip was fast & furious! We had a blast! I really really enjoyed myself! I LOVE these kids sooooo much! Great stuff! Its the greatest feeling in the world! Better that any drug or stimulant you can take!

I reach home at about 10..++! I cant sleep! My adrealine rsuh is still high! I feel happy, excited, satisfied, sad………I miss my kids already!

Thanks for another great year! We will cherish this moment forever!

Reflections & Resolutions

January 24th, 2007 by shreenath

Yowzzz!

Wazzup peeps! Firstly happy new year..this is my first blog for the year 2007!

Hmmm…much to reflect about (my past) and much to think about (my future)…..as I am not getting any younger…and before I even realised it..BADABOOM!!!! I’m in my "late’ twenties! Damn.

Somewhere in between is where we all have this thing called a new year resolution! Some say its bullshit! But some say having a resolution is for people with principles in life…they can effect a positive change and improve their life if you choose to…..Most of just don’t bother…..but for me…the time has come to have a resolution!

Been reading a lot of interesting blogs lately…gained a lot of insight on how different people from different backgrounds, age and culture look at  life from various perspectives! Got me  thinking…my brain juices started flowing…and before I cud even stop myself…I’m on a mental roller coaster ride trying to define myself!!!

WHo Am I? Am I on the right path? Do I need to change the equation in my life? Can I be someone better if not different? God knows….man proposes, god disposes!

My given name is Shree but half my life I have been known as ‘SIR’! Ha ha ..Interesting…..Seeing movies like To sir with love & School of Rock makes me feel happy and warm..knowing I can inspire and be inspired! Doing what i do…year in year out (red crescent I mean) sometimes I tend to feel suffocated! I feel stagnant! I have an urge to move on…move out…then it hits me….I love what I do…it gives me purpose in life…it has and will always have a place in my heart!

Then, how about my other comitments and priorities in life? Family….Pamban Ashram…. SSEAYP Alumni….MCC (Malaysian Ceylonese Congress)…JCS Youth….temple youth…hmmmm….seems like I have been missing all da action! To myself I know I can do better! I have deprived the other components in my life some quality, time and effort….My first resolution therefore is to repriorotize!

Being older they say, makes a man wiser! Hmmmm….as you get older you have bigger responsibilities…more important life decisions to make and consider….life partner, owning a house, big bucks in da bank (saving they call It) , investment, marriage, having a solid future! Damn…so many things to consider…

Resolution No.2 : To buy a house this year!

Then comes my Red Crescent life…I always have the feeling of been there, done that, seen this!!!! So many achievements and milestones and yet …….there’s something missing!

Resolution No.3 : Do different stuff. (learn a new language, learn to tango or salsa, webhosting,  Windows Vista ,go places (not PD or Genting…BORING!!!), travel Malaysia -VMY2007 mah!

LAst but not least, they say behind every successful man is a WoMAN!Hmmmmmm……..Thus…..the kesimpulannya ialah:______________

Resolution No 4 : If you smell what Shree is cooking! :D (Make your own assumptions)

Ship For South East Asia Youth Programme 31/2004 (Fondly known as SSEAYP)

Have you eva dreamed of seeing heaven…being on heaven…living in heaven….

Well..well..well…whaddya know…I’ve been there!!!! On a ship called NIPPON MARU…sailing the blue blue ocean….with 330 Participating Youths from 11 countries!!! Woooooo! Sweet!

It all started with my ever beloved society- Red Crescent nominating my name for this Program to da Minsitry of Youth & Sports,Malaysia.

After going through a group Interview, a Selection Camp, a Pre-Departure Training involving  massive physical training (kayaking for 10 KM!!!!) and a 2 week training stint with the Ministry…….we officially became MaPY’s - Malaysian Participating Youth 2004!

Our journey started in Japan. The Japanese Gov hosted us in the New Ottani Hotel, Tokyo (talk about mega-structures with a 400 year old park) . And no visit to Tokyo would be complete without a visit to Tokyo Disneyland!!! Yea…yea We also stayed in the International Youth Center, Tokyo and my homestay was in the beautiful mountanious town of Iwate Prefecture!!!

Then we embarked on the superb, fantastic, bombastic & romantic ship - NIPPON MARU (some call it da "Love Boat"). Our home for 2 months!!! We started sailing from Yokohama Port and sailed to the Philiphines,Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia & Singapore. We spent a few days in each country and trust me when I say ASEAN Rocks!!!!!!It was a life changing experience.

We went through so many fun stuff together - homestays, discussions,SG - activities, club activities (not clubbing yaar!), welcoming ceremonies, morning assemblies, flag hoisting ceremonies, Exhibitions, National Day performances, institutional visits, Courtesy call visits, friendship party’s…..and before you know it everyone is like your brother and sista….and there’s this magical bond created….and badaboom…WE ARE FAMILY!!!

With 330 people onboard ranging from admin Staff, ship staff ,national leaders to PY’s from 11 countries (Malaysia, Japan,Philliphines, Brunei, SIngapore, Indonesia,Thailand,Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia & Myanmar) , we had a BLAST!!! We redefined the meaning of PARTY ANIMALZ!!!

All in all, it was a once in a lifetime experience and a life defining moment ! The spirit of SSEAYP will forever burn in our hearts and souls and you need to be SSEAYP Family to even fathom or understand the feeling!

KAMPAI!!!! Gambatte!!!! Mahal Kita!!!

***If u r wondering…like WTF….wazzup with this dude….well…NIPPON MARU is coming back to town!!!!  Woooo Hooo!>

A Tribute to Lam Soo Kean

August 3rd, 2006 by shreenath

************~1987 - 2006~************

Lam Soo Kean……Lam Soo….SooKee….. :

Our dearest Lam Soo Kean is no longer with us.

>Secreatary Of Youth Exco Council 2003 > Comm member of VAD 43 >BTeam since Form 1> Secreatary of MRCS STAR >Jay Chou Fan Club Press Commitee> Sky Adventure Club, Taylor’s College > sweet & caring > bubbly & crazy > exotic mannerisms & dimpled smile> brilliant & smart….the list goes on….

The way you call me ’sir’ reveberates in my mind……….now & forever……

A face we know, a personality so bubbly and
interesting, a person who has touched our lives in
someway or other, a VAD43 family member, a
smart, intelligent and brillant student, a caring and
sharing daughter/exco (to me) will no longer share
our life’s journey and walk this path with us.

Winning her first award in Kem Tutti Fratelli at the
tender age of Form 2 -Setiausaha Terbaik and then
winning Ahli Belia Perempuan Berpotensi in the
following Kem Tutti Fratelli and since then
becoming a part of the Tutti Family every year
without fail after that……she became an integral
and important feature of Majlis Exco Belia 2003
and was one of my best S/U’s ever!

A great leader, a brilliant talker (she could gossip
with you on any issue) and having an inquisitive
mind (always a 1001 questions…sir…why this..why
that…) …always willing to go that extra mile for RC.

A strong and willful character, even in her last
days, she did not want to share her sorrow and
bring everyone down with her due to her
illness….kept quiet about it…suffered in
silence…..was admitted in the hospital for
sometime before we all got to know about it!

Whatever said and done, she has lived this short
life (19 years) like a queen! She has had a
wonderful life, wonderful friends, travelled the world,
won awards, organised multiple mega-events in RC
and college and school and she has touched the
lives of many young leaders and also old leaders
like me!Most importantly, she was a good
daugther to her family!

I just want to thank all of you for making her last
journey to the next world, sweet. Thanks to all who
visited her and was by her bedside….and did your
best to ease her burden.

Her memory will live on forever! May the good lord bless her and may her soul rest in peace.

I will love you for who you always were to me!

Shree.

The Million Dollar Question! ha ha ha….

Yup! I’m asked this question, so many many times in a year..everywhere I go. Why are you still with RED CRESCENT?!?!? Are you nuts?!?! Move on, dude? Enjoy life?!?!!! How long u gonna do this stuff??!! Whaddya get????

Whoa..whoa..cool it mama! Let me give you an insight!

RED CRESCENT is my passion in life! Some people enjoy sports, some people enjoy travelling, some people have hobbies, some people enjoy working…..but Shreenath C loves RED CRESCENT! Its my way of life!!!

I am who I am today becoz of RC! RC gave me my backbone in life! My skills, my attitude, my vision & mission in life and most importantly my everdearest brothers & sisters a.k.a friends! There are some things in life that you juz can’t explain! You have to be there, see it, do it,master it to actually feel the magic!

People ask WHY?

I can give you a million reasons !!!!!!

For the past 13 years, I have lived a life of fulfillment! Never a boring weekend or week that goes by  without something or many things to do!  Oppurtunities come knocking on my door so very often! Lifetime experiences, superb everlasting memories, great, sincere & loyal friends, travelling around the globe for RC, awards & appreciation, making a difference in people’s lifes, learning all the right values, etc..etc..etc…the list goes on.

I believe in what I do! And you know what they say: "service to mankind, is service to GOD"! Its all about doing the right things, right! And once a red crescent , forever a red crescent. You can take YOU out of Red Crescent, but you can never take out the RED CRESCENT out of YOU!!!! (Never ever forget your roots….they make you, YOU!)

So….30 years from now, if I am still in RED CRESCENT…and my kids are all in RED CRESCENT….well….its all in da game! Its just ME!

June 5th, 2006 by shreenath

Yo Tutti Family! Wazzup?!?!?

Salam khabare? Salam Tutti buat semua!

Sekelip mata, sepintas lalu, Kem Tutti Fratelli ke-11 berlalu begitu cepat sekali! Memori manis, kenangan pahit/manis, pengalaman berharga, semangat anak-anak Tutti , aktiviti bombastik , makanan ala kem, dan lagi dan lagi dan lagi….masih berkumdandang di ruang otak saya!

Bak kata pepatah Tutti "Tidur Tutti , makan Tutti, main Tutti, semuanya Tutti!!!"

But we really enjoyed having YOU because muka you dah sebati dengan Tutti and its always a pleasure seeing a known face in Tutti! Sikap setiakawan dan semangat persatuanmu amat dihargai!

This year Tutti special was the Tarian Para Tutti! Its an army dance dan memang gempak giler bila 330 peserta + 50 AJK persembahkan!Power packed!

Cekapler!!!!

Aktiviti Tutti tahun ini dibahagi dua :TRADITIONAL ACTIVITIES & NEW ACTIVITIES.

Aktiviti tradisional Tutti : RC Fear Factor, RC Challenge, RC Skill Stations, Malam Belia Ceria,Commando Training (kecekalan), Jungle Trekking, Malam Kebudayaan dan banyak lagi!!!!

Aktiviti Baru tahun 2006 : Tutti Pilihanraya, Zin , Tutti Puzzle, Tutti Disaster Call, Tutti Suara Rakyat & Tutti Treasure Hunt! Siap ada KFC lagi untuk pemenang!

Tutti kali ini, lawatan sambil belajar kengkawan rimba semakin menjadi-jadi. 1 biawak komodo saiz buaya dan ular tedung ditemui 5 kali!!!! Angkatan beruk biasalahtu!Siap melawat denagan senak sedara!!!! But babi hutan tak buat guest appearance pada tahun ini!

Ops.

A 1 st time for AJK….Hope you guys enjoyed……

Jutaan terima kasih & penghargaan to everyone who makes Kem Tutti Fratelli a grand success! Peserta Tutti memang da best! PBSM Klang roxx! Tutti roxx! You rock!

Kem Tutti Fratelli - My Story

June 5th, 2006 by shreenath

Kem Tutti Fratelli-The Legend…11 years running

How it all started?!?!?!Hmmm…..

The idea was mooted in 1995, when the Majlis Exco Belia at that time wanted to change the name of their Kem Belia!

So, they did some research and came across the word Tutti Fratelli in the book-"A Memory of Solferino"! Of courselah, at that time , those young punks/kids did not really understand the true meaning of Tutti Fratelli but 11 years later, I think they truly appreciate and are proud of that name and its significance!

The original Tutti just had 70 participants and was organised in SMK Vokasional Shah Alam!!! There were only about 7 organisers:AJK!!!

In 1996, There was no Kem Tutti as the Majlis Exco Belia 2006 decided to continue with the Kem Belia Series (now at its 29th edition!).

In 1997, Kem Tutti Fratelli was jumpstarted again and for the 1st time ever organised in Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam! The rest they say…is history! Since then, Camar Rimba, Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam has been the homeground for Kem Tutti Fratelli!

In that year, Kem Tutti Fratelli had about 100 participants with about 15 AJk’s!

In 1998, a challenge was thrown in our way! One top official challenged the credibility and strength of youth power! Thus, the commitee sat down and strategised and 101% effort was put in! We registered about 500 participants after some massive powerpacked promotions and had to cut down the participation to 350 people! Our first ever mega Tutti!

In 1999, argubaly the best Kem Tutti in its series, a competition format was introduced! Schools sent their best team to compete and become the Tutti Champions!

10 years later,in 2005, Kem Tutti Fratelli celebrated its 10th Anniversary on a grand scale! Today, we stand proud with a minimum participation of 300++ participants yearly and a strong AJK of 50++ organisers. Interest generated for Kem Tutti is tremendous where participation has exceeded expectations and we get calls from various chapters, states and institutions!

We just completed Kem Tutti Fratelli 2006 - the 11th series! Was it HOT!?!?!? Of course..whaddya think?!!!!Fooh! There’s always bombastic magic with all our peserta and Red Crescent members! They just make it happen year after year! Their spirit and passion is the fuel for the AJK’s to do their best year in year out!

Over the years, we have had many VVIPS grace our camp and shower their blessings from Top Officials from National Headquaters(S/U Agung), Top Officials of Cawangan Selangor to the Chairman of RC Klang (our Tan Sri & Dato) to politicians to ministers!!! Our next target: Tun Dr Mahathir. This dream will become a reality.

And Kem Tutti Fratelli has one of the best AJK"s Teams in the world.Young leaders, great aspirations, superb attitude, undying passion and the Tutti spirit!Their commitment, effort and sacrifice is countless!!!

We are the TUTTI FAMILY! Come & join us!
